THE BAT
Operetta by Johann Strauss
Gabriel von Eisenstein has played a nasty trick on his friend Dr. Falke. After a night of carousing, he left him in the lurch on a park bench, where, drunk and dressed in a bat costume, he proceeded to become the laughing stock of the neighbourhood. Dr. Falke has been out for revenge ever since. The opportunity arises at Prinz Orlofsky’s costume ball…
“Die Fledermaus” (The Bat) is to this day the most popular operetta by Johann Strauss, and probably the genre’s most frequently performed work. A masterpiece by the Viennese Waltz King, chock-full of well-known melodies.
And with cabaret artist Tom Pauls as prison warden Frosch, the evening promises to be full of laughs.
