THE MAGIC FLUTE
Opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Prince Tamino is sent out by the Queen of the Night to free her daughter from the hands of Sarastro and his initiates. Together with the birdcatcher Papageno, he succeeds in entering the Temple of Wisdom. Here Tamino discovers that Sarastro is by no means the villainous creature the Queen of the Night made him out to be. Thus, he undergoes the trials to become an initiate himself and win the hand of Pamina.
The “Magic Flute” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a genuine opera for the people: by turns comic and serious, with popular songs followed by tender, magnificent arias. An opera for the entire family, “The Magic Flute” has lost none of its allure for audiences young and old.
